Upon the white and fleety shire Lay a cottage small and dreary And in my heart burned a desire For the man inside, weak and weary And in the cottage I arrived And saw the one I desired In repose in his bed, two years ago he died A tragedy upon him transpired At twenty-four a walking dead As he travailed the world around And when the trek was over, the angels said He is ready for us, for no life in him is found As I stood above the dead and still Cold, reposed man The tears that stung my saddened eyes spilled As I reached for his icy hand The tears that fell awoke his heart And his eyes Electric Blue shone As he said to me, "Never shall we part" The man of hair a red hue, never again alone The wings unfolded behind his back And shone like heaven's glow And disappeared with one hack Of his hands white as snow The sun broke through to the dark room To illuminate his dreary face A smile to break my inner gloom His hand through my hair graced As he wiped away my lingering tears His lips drew ever closer to mine To eradicate my chronic fears That I would lose him for all time He bid me silence, end my pain For he is alive and well Gone is the worry and disdain For without him life was hell He assured me there was no other Who could have awakened him that day No one else whose lips could smother The love I offered him without delay Our lips met in tight embrace As his body pressed ever close The absence of time, being and space Became realised with the absence of our clothes
